Why I am not a Christian

[Before getting into the details of this post, while I’m not a Christian, I should point out that I am a Bible-believing member of the body of Christ, and that, no, they’re not the same thing; we might have been called Christians in the first century, but we stopped using that label a long time ago.]

People sometimes ask me, “Why are you not a Christian?” Well, the answer to that question is simply because I believe and follow the Bible, and because Christians are wrong about nearly every single thing that they believe the Bible teaches. And even when it comes to the few things that a relatively small handful of them get right, they still get most of the details connected with it wrong. For example, Christians (for the most part — there are exceptions in some cases) believe the following assertions to be biblical and true:

  • Heresy means “incorrect doctrine” and is always wrong.
  • There’s only one church, Gospel, and/or type of salvation in the Bible.
  • Gentiles can be “born again.”
  • The body of Christ is “spiritual Israel.”
  • Members of the church called the body of Christ should be following the words Jesus spoke during His earthly ministry.
  • Members of the church called the body of Christ should follow the instructions in the books of the Bible not written by Paul.
  • Members of the church called the Israel of God should follow the instructions Paul gave in his 13 epistles.
  • Paul taught the Gentiles the exact same things that Jesus taught during His earthly ministry.
  • The words “everlasting” and “eternal” literally always mean “never-ending,” “for ever” literally always means “without end,” and “never” literally always means “can’t ever” in the KJV (the King James Version of the Bible) and other less literal English translations of Scripture that use these words.
  • There is an afterlife where the dead can experience things consciously.
  • Hell is a place where the dead suffer consciously without end.
  • Heaven is a place dead people can enjoy if they’re saved.
  • Not every human will be saved and reconciled to God in the end.
  • Satan and the other sinful spiritual beings will suffer without end in the lake of fire, and will never experience reconciliation with God.
  • ”Free will” exists.
  • Humans can choose to truly believe either of the Gospels connected with salvation through Jesus Christ.
  • Original Sin is a real thing, and people die because they sin, and also because they‘re somehow also guilty of Adam’s sin.
  • God is not the originator of sin and/or evil.
  • At one point Satan was a good angel who sinned and became evil rather than was created evil and a sinner from his very beginning by God.
  • The Trinity is a biblical doctrine, and God is three persons rather than just one person.
  • It’s possible for someone who is not a Unitarian or a Universalist to join the church called the body of Christ, and possible for someone who is not a Unitarian to join the church called the Israel of God.
  • We should actively be trying to avoid sinning.
  • Premarital sex is a sin.
  • Enjoying the way someone we’re not married to looks from a sexual perspective, and even fantasizing about them sexually, is a sin.
  • Nudity in front of someone who isn’t one’s spouse (or, perhaps, doctor) is sinful.
  • Pornography is sinful.
  • Masturbation is sinful.
  • Being gay is sinful and forbidden in the Bible.
  • Polygamy is a sin.
  • Swearing/profanity is a sin.
  • Drinking alcohol is a sin.
  • Abortion is murder — even in places where it isn’t illegal — and is a sin.
  • Sunday is now the Sabbath.
  • We’re supposed to go to church buildings to listen to speeches from a religious leader on the Sabbath, and partake in communion and/or other religious observances/ceremonies.
  • Gentiles are supposed to tithe.
  • Members of the body of Christ (and Gentiles who aren’t in the Israel of God) are supposed to follow the Mosaic law.

While I’m sure that most Christians reading this list are currently thinking of “proof texts” that they assume prove most of the above assertions to actually be biblical and true, and also that they now want to quote some of these passages to whoever sent them the link to this article (and if that is you, please read the article I’m linking to here first), literally none of those assertions are actually biblical or true, and any Christian making any of the above assertions is demonstrating that they haven’t actually studied the Bible carefully enough yet, as I proved definitively from Scripture in my free eBook.

Now, I’m not going to argue about any of the above assertions with any Christian who hasn’t read my entire eBook carefully from beginning to end, because there’s no point, since they just don’t understand the Bible at all (and history has proven that almost all of those Christians who won’t read my eBook don’t care about truth so much as they simply care about being right). But that list, combined with the scriptural evidence I laid out in my eBook proving the assertions in that list to all be incorrect, are why I am not a Christian. To put it simply, I’m not a Christian because I actually believe and follow the Bible, as do those other members of the true body of Christ who also believe what I wrote in my eBook. And if you want to get saved (which I say because there are no Christians in the true body of Christ), I’d advise reading that book before it’s too late. Because, yes, everyone will be saved in the end, but only Biblical Unitarian Universalists can join the true body of Christ and enjoy all the blessings that God gives before the end of the ages, as proven from Scripture in my eBook.
